Who We Are

Unfortunately, the potential for liability risk is high in the real estate industry, and errors and omissions claims occur more often than REALTORS® might realize. Claims can and do happen to even the most seasoned professionals.
The Real Estate Insurance Alliance (REIA) procures professional liability insurance coverage for members of the four Atlantic provincial associations and the Manitoba Real Estate Association against claims arising from any actual or alleged negligent acts, errors, omissions, or misleading statements occurring during their activities as licensed real estate agents.

Insurance coverage is provided by an insurance carrier (Trisura Guarantee Insurance Company) through insurance brokerage BFL Canada. REIA is governed by a board of directors comprised of representatives from the five participating provincial associations.

In addition to procuring insurance coverage, another one of REIA’s legally defined objectives is to identify where REIA may be able to promote risk reduction initiatives through education to reduce claims against the insureds of the participating provincial associations.
